Research summary

Research approach

Phase 1 – Inventory

This research approach is intended to be exploratory. More specifically, through this partnership research, we aim to achieve the following objectives.

  • Present the main challenges of rural Quebec, as well as the issues and conditions surrounding the involvement of Quebec foundations in rural areas. Identify the elements of representation that Quebec foundations have of rurality and of these issues or challenges.
  • Draw up an inventory of the involvement of Quebec foundations in rural initiatives or projects.
  • Draw a portrait of the funding experiments carried out by philanthropic foundations to support projects, organizations or citizen initiatives in rural areas.
  • Prepare and carry out a broader discussion with several philanthropic foundations to identify avenues for their possible involvement in rurality and the specific tools to be put in place to achieve this.
  • Prepare a partnership request for funding for a Phase II research.
