Research summary

Justification of research project

The Philanthropy and Social Finance Working Group was born out of a dual need.

First, it responds to a request expressed by the Chagnon Foundation to have a solid reference framework for social finance and mission-oriented investments.

Secondly, PhiLab, through its research program, intends to qualify the role of grant-making philanthropy in terms of environmental justice and social justice. Which forms of justice represent two key principles of corporate social responsibility and social finance.

The overall objective of the approach is to generate practical and theoretical knowledge that will translate into benefits and positive advances for the philanthropic and research communities.
