Biography

My name is Samantha Young and I am a Thesis based student in the Environmental Policy Masters program at Memorial Universities Grenfell Campus. A large amount of my past research has been on food security and sovereignty as well as the ability of foodways to help build and sustain community development. For PhiLab, I have been looking at how social enterprise and philanthropy are connected to one another to create sustainable economic systems. I have been living on the West Coast of Newfoundland for the last 5 years most of my research interests continue to revolve around community resilience in rural areas of Newfoundland and other Northern communities.
