Student Community
PhiLab aims to help train the next generation of leaders by providing students with a space to deepen their knowledge, expand their networks, and participate in research on philanthropy in Canada.
Whether you are an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student, PhiLab provides you with access to a variety of opportunities for training, knowledge mobilization, and networking with researchers and stakeholders in the philanthropic sector.
What PhiLab has to offer
By joining the PhiLab student community, you can, among other things:
- discover resources and research on contemporary philanthropic issues;
- participate in training sessions, conferences, webinars, and PhiLab events for free or at a nominal cost;
- benefit from paid student positions as part of various PhiLab research projects;
- expand your network within the research community and the philanthropic sector;
- contribute to advocacy and knowledge-sharing initiatives;
- gain opportunities to present your research
Do you have a research project?
PhiLab also offers students the opportunity to submit a research proposal as part of their academic program. Whether it’s for a thesis, dissertation, postdoctoral project, or other research activity, your project can align with PhiLab’s research priorities and areas of interest.
This process allows you to become part of a collaborative research network, develop connections with PhiLab researchers, and—where relevant—foster exchanges with organizations and partners in the philanthropic sector.
Do you have an idea for a project related to philanthropy? Fill out the research project proposal form and send it to the PhiLab’s email address
